Lucie Jahier is a French flutist and composer whose musical world brings together jazz, improvised music and Brazilian choro. Through her compositions, she develops a distinctive language that explores the colours and textures of the transverse flute, creating bridges between traditions and contemporary music.
Leader of Javotte, a jazz-world quartet awarded the Public Prize at the 2023 Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival, and co-creator of Fuite(s) pour Flûte(s), a visual concert with Léo Rousselet, Lucie has performed in France and Brazil at venues and festivals including Jazz à Vienne, Jazz sous les Pommiers, RIO LOCO and the Paris International Choro Festival.
Trained in France and Germany, and further educated in Brazil with leading choro musicians, she now also teaches choro. Her artistic career has been supported by programmes including WIZZ – Women in Jazz, the France-Brazil Jazz Exchange Residency, INTL Jazz Platform and Propulsion.
In 2026, she released Javotte’s first album, Broderies, began creating BLOWWW, a solo for flutes, voice and electronics, and became a finalist with Javotte at the Jazz in the Park International Competition in Cluj-Napoca. She also received a composition grant from the French Ministry of Culture (DRAC Occitanie).
JAVOTTE quartet
Winner of the 2023 Public Prize at the Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival, Javotte is a quartet led by flutist and composer Lucie Jahier. Through original compositions, she develops a distinctive musical identity inspired by Hermeto Pascoal, Magic Malik, Naïssam Jalal, Ian Clarke and Georg Philipp Telemann.
Javotte brings together choro, jazz, forró, jazz-rock, improvised and contemporary music in a lively, eclectic and explosive sound, combining freedom, precision and spontaneity.
Since its creation, the quartet has performed at Rio Loco, Jazz sous les Pommiers, Jazz à Semur, Briv’en Jazz, Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival and Le Metronum in Toulouse, among others.
In 2026, Javotte is a finalist at the Jazz in the Park International Competition in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Fuite(s) pour Flûte(s) is a visual concert to be seen and heard, unfolding in a dreamlike and intimate atmosphere. Lucie Jahier and Léo Rousselet break the fourth wall of the music box, inviting audiences into an original and fascinating immersive performance.

BLOWWW, solo pour flûtes "étendues"
BLOWWW is an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, with silence, and with what the breath can teach us about our relationship to time. An invitation to slow down, breathe together and listen differently, where every sound, even the faintest, becomes universal.
In a world that is constantly speeding up, where noise and urgency often take over from listening and stillness, BLOWWW offers an introspective sonic journey — a suspended moment outside of time, where we can catch our breath.
Through the extended techniques of the transverse flute, I explore the infinite sounds and nuances of the human breath — both physical and vital — that connects us to our inner selves. Melody, rhythm and harmony intertwine to create unique sonic textures and timbres, carrying emotion and expression.
The result is an impressionistic soundscape, where the flute becomes an extension of the body, blending shadows and bursts of light, and revealing that there is no single path to introspection.
BLOWWW is co-produced by La Phare à Lucioles / Le Milieu in Sault (France), a venue dedicated to contemporary writing and artistic creation.
